UPDATED: FEMA Camps at Wurtsmith AFB?

Categories Local News, National News, Regional NewsPosted on

Hello everyone, a quick message to hopefully put some minds at ease – since there is enough to concern ourselves with these days…

The much publicized 350 FEMA trailer incursion into the former Wurtsmith AFB is not actually a “plan in the works”.  It seems, based on information provided by local officials, that the plans are simply finalized “just in case” it ever becomes necessary.

After receiving many questions regarding this, we decided to reach out to the Sheriff in Iosco County, Mr. Scott Frank, and he was able to provide us with direct information on the topic.

He states that there are no trailers coming.  Information provided to him is that FEMA instead simply updated their master plan for the property.  This Master Plan does include an agreement which stipulates that the former AFB could, in fact, house 350 trailers if ever the need should arise.

There are no trailers coming. FEMA just updated their master plan and have an agreement in place big enough that COULD house 350 trailers.  There are no trailers coming and no plan for them to come.

Here are screen shots from Local Facebook Groups from elected representatives of the area which provide their  public statements and lines of inquiry on the matter.

We hope that this information is useful to you, and that it helps to dispel any rumors which tend to grow quickly around such a potentially intense and large Federal Government action.

We will update this article if more information becomes revealed or, if we are able to do more research for a new one, should the need arise.

Update from 11/12/2024

This story is spreading like wildfire, with most people we have talked to having little to no confidence in the officials who have said that this FEMA plan to house 350 trailers at the Wurtsmith Airforce Base, is not taking place at this time. Not only has this story blown up all over Michigan, but it is now taking a National spotlight by articles from The Gateway Pundit.

However, here are some new updates and things to consider with this ever growing story.

First, a statement from FEMA themselves, as found on this Substack article:

“[F]EMA routinely assess the viability of the sites that may be used in future disasters. There is no plan to use the Wurtsmith location to stage commodities at this time. We have no trailers at the location or on the way. This is an unfortunate misunderstanding.”

Also, found on the same Substack article, is a follow up statement from Oscoda Township Manager, Bill Palmer:

“I misspoke at the Board meeting when I said FEMA was sending 350 semi’s to Wurtsmith what I meant to say was Wurtsmith was being “considered” as a secure location along with 5 other possible locations for this secure staging of FEMA equipment, this would simply be a staging area for FEMA to cover some 6 counties in northern Michigan, as I understand, in case of an emergency or disaster of some kind, however at this time no decision has been made by FEMA to my knowledge. And I have no idea why FEMA is considering this possible action.”

In the Facebook group, “Truly Oscoda”, you can see a post from Jack Brown, the Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport Manager with his statement on the matter:

Virtual Q&A TODAY with FEMA

There also seems to be a virtual Q&A from FEMA that is set up to happen TODAY (November 12, 2024) at 3pm eastern, where applicants can interact with AFG HQ and Regional program staff about the program. You can find the link to join that webinar here: FEMA Virtual Q&A

Unfortunately, we have prior engagements and will not be able to attend this Q&A session, so if someone wishes to attend, record and or/take notes from this session and send them to us, please do! Simply reach out to us here and we will begin the process of transferring any videos and/or notes you may have on the session.

Other Questions that Need Answers

Here are some other questions that we would like to find answers for regarding this potential staging area:

  1. What are the other areas being considered for FEMA staging?
  2. What are the 6 counties that are talked about in the video from the Oscoda Township meeting that the Oscoda Township Manager, Bill Palmer, stated it would be a staging area for? (Link to video where the “6 counties” were mentioned, but not named: MJTruthUltra on X )
  3. What will these 350 semi’s be hauling to the site if it is chosen to move forward? What is the “equipment” in consideration here?
  4. What emergencies are FEMA preparing for, or hoping to prepare for?
  5. How was this announcement by Bill Palmer supposed to offer any sort of reassurance to the people in Michigan? Who gave him this information that he “misspoke” at the meeting? Was this intentionally bad information given to Mr. Palmer or by Mr. Palmer? And if so, what is it being used to distract from?

Growing Disapproval & Concern Regarding FEMA

If you’re wondering why so many questions are arising out of this potential staging area from FEMA, look no further than this area of the update. You see, due to mishandling of the two hurricanes earlier this year, Helene and Milton, FEMA is under a microscope by We the People. And it’s completely justified too.

First, Mayorkas said that FEMA was out of money. Then, they stated that no, that’s not true, it’s actually the SBA who is out of money and it’s the fault of congress.

All of this taking place, while people who were affected by Hurricanes Helene & Milton were being told that they would get $750 to help with their recoveries.

Also, while during a FEMA Disaster Preparedness Meeting, they were focusing “our efforts on LGBTQIA people… they struggled before the storm” and “FEMA relief is no longer about getting the greatest good for the greatest amount of people… It’s about disaster equity.” (Source: endwokeness on X )

And, this is also on top of a FEMA manager directing relief efforts to NOT assist anyone with a Trump Sign in their yard. (Source: The Gateway Pundit ) Thankfully, that particular employee was released, but still, how many people suffered due to this bad practice that has infiltrated FEMA?

And now suddenly, we find that they want to “do what is right and be prepared” here in Michigan? Is it truly no wonder why everyone is asking questions? I think not.

  1. Nevertheless, it does not make sense if the six counties involved are:

    1. Eaton
    2. Ingham
    3. Ionia
    4. Kent
    5. Livingston
    6. Macomb

    All downstate counties.

Does it seem less efficient to stage in Iosco for these six counties, if that is indeed correct?

The Township Supervisor certainly “misspoke” or at the very least was less than clear, considering that he was ostensibly the main person with the information, him sitting on the Airport Board and all.
